A bamboo whisk for matcha, handmade from a single piece of bamboo. It whisks matcha into a thick foam with no lumps in 15 to 20 seconds.
Works with every Mild matcha and with the Matchawan Emerald bowl. Soak the tines in warm water for 30 seconds before whisking.

Foam, not lumps
Matcha powder does not dissolve in water like instant coffee. Stirred with a spoon, it leaves lumps, while a chasen turns it into a smooth, foamy drink in 20 seconds.

How to whisk matcha

Sift
1-2 g of matcha through a sieve into the bowl.

Pour
60-80 ml of water at 70-80°C.

Whisk
Quickly, in an M motion, for 15-20 seconds.

Done
Foam with no lumps. Drink straight away or pour over iced milk.
How to care for your chasen
- Before whisking, soak the prongs in warm water for 30 seconds. They soften and will not break.
- After each use, rinse the prongs in warm water, without washing-up liquid.
- Dry it prongs down, ideally on a holder, so it keeps its shape.
- Do not put a wet chasen back in its box. The bamboo needs to air-dry.
